Proposal of the President Vujanović for the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro
President Vujanović submitted to Minister Ivan Brajović an official letter of the People’s Party dated from March 23 2012, by which the proposal to grant the Montenegrin citizenship to Predrag Popović former leader of that Party has been initiated.

I believe that there has been a grounded initiative since Predrag Popović already had Montenegrin citizenship which was acquired by birth in Montenegro where his ancestors lived. Mr. Popović has lived and still is living with his family in Montenegro. As councilor of the People’s Party he was in the Municipal Assembly of Bar. He was elected as the Member of the Parliament of Montenegro in six mandates, and on behalf of Montenegro he was in the Council of Republics of FRY in two mandates. In three years mandate he was the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Montenegro and performed a duty of the President of the Parliamentary Committee on International Relations. Respecting the fact that Mr. Popović was the leader of the People’s Party which was founded in 1906 and was represented in the Parliament of Montenegro and that it has been represented in certain municipal assemblies now, I deem it justified to grant him Montenegrin citizenship which he had before.

Assessing that all conditions referred to in Article 12 paragraph 2 of the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship have been fulfilled, I propose that Montenegrin citizenship should be granted to Mr. Predrag Popović. more
