He emphasized that this visit meant to him confirmation and continuity of friendly and close relations of the two states. “We are convinced that our relations are a good example and good role model of cooperation in the region and open room for cooperation without open issues really reflects the quality of our relations.
We have a common task as regards the integration goals and there is full readiness for maximum cooperation” said the President. He stated that Montenegro was ahead of Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration but it was also ready to share its experience with Bosnia and Herzegovina and, taking into account Montenegro’s need to cooperate with it, to promote speeding up the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There is full readiness to encourage at the state level all what is in the interest good cooperation. We have a quality contractual base for it and we are ready to further encourage economic cooperation on that basis.

The President said that he discussed with the Chairman Izetbegović also how to speed up completion of the agreements, which are in the finishing phase, and in that sense joint expectation was expressed to complete two important agreements as soon as possible. These are dual citizenship agreement and state border agreement, which will be the first state border agreement concluded between the former Yugoslavia states.

The President stated that he shared the opinion with the Chairman Izetbegović on significance of minority people that represent a firm bridge of cooperation between the states and guarantee of friendship and closeness of the two states.

The President expressed his great satisfaction over the visit of the Chairman Izetbegović to Montenegro stating his belief that this visit would signify further contribution to the great relations of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović emphasized that “Relations between Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina are an example in the entire region and if relations among other republics and within Bosnia and Herzegovina itself were such, recovery of both economic and political relations would be faster and much better.”

“Therefore, we have no open issues, we agreed today to speed up completion of dual citizenship agreement and border agreement, which are in fact prepared. There are not any disagreements in that part and the procedure should only be speeded up”, said Izetbegović.

He confirmed that they agreed that construction of infrastructure should be speeded up; road, railway and other communications should be improved. Projects in the field of energy industry, which can be done together, are for the purpose of general joint attraction of investments. We are interested in all of it. Izetbegović said that they discussed also certain issues from the past, he welcomed the decision of Court of Appeals to reexamine the judgment of acquittal in relation to deportation, for those who did the deportation in which process people from Bosnia and Herzegovina lost their lives. We will leave it to the courts. Relation of Montenegrin leaders in terms of these issues is satisfactory for us in Bosnia and Herzegovina!
