President Vujanović Answers Journalistís Questions
The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, after the presentation of the UNDPís 2013 Human Development Report, answered the questions of the media representatives:

The journalistís question:
Mr. President, Mr. Lekić expressed his belief this morning in his victory in the presidential elections. Do you have plans to win this victory after all, to lead Montenegro again?

Presidentís answer:

Of course. In all activities I had and all those elections I participated in, like others that participate in, I have an ambition to win. On the basis of the analysis and, naturally, on the basis of the result of my term of office and a belief of what will be the offer of my further activities. I am convinced that the citizens will recognize it as a reason to give me a support that will ensure my victory.

Journalistís question:

Do you expect the support of the Albanian parties in the presidential elections and since the election appeal by the SDP to the Constitutional Court was announced, what position do you expect from the Constitutional Court and will you seek the opinion of the Venice Commission?

Presidentís answer:

I expect, of course, to have the support of all citizens, because I believe they have all recognized that I have been the president of all citizens and Iíve stood for the promotion of strategic interests of Montenegro for evaluation of the country which, along with my participation, ensured its independence and reputation in the international community which it enjoys now and which is very respectable, I would say it exceeds the size and number of inhabitants of Montenegro. I am convinced that this commitment during my term of office will be recognized by the citizens in all structures and I do not see that anyone, in any other context, could have a different position. I have a confidence in the state institutions of Montenegro and I believe that with a careful expectation of what will be their position, one should be just patient.

Journalistís question:

Will the Government seek the opinion of the Venice Commission regarding your candidacy?

Presidentís answer:

I am convinced that we have all the institutions. And these institutions have their own credibility, significance and value. They have demonstrated their reputation and I think a maximum respect should be shown to them.

Journalistís question:

The Union of Free Trade Unions announced the protest on the occasion of the new tax laws, they said they will call on you not to sign this law. Will you sign it?

Presidentís answer:

Letís wait for the procedure to be completed within the Parliament and to see what position will be taken concerning the law and to determine what the Minister of Finance éugić expressed, the full willingness to look for the models that provide the abundance which will enable the budget deficit reduction that will ensure temporariness of these measures and protect from possible negative consequences which will be excluded if the crisis measures are not taken. Letís not anticipate that outcome but wait to see what it will be. I have been always stand for all that is constructive, at the same time asked for understanding of the position of the president of the state in terms of capacities that he disposes of and those powers he has in promulgation of a law, which as you know, comes down to see if there is internal collision of norm and only if there is one, to take a negative position towards the law. If there is no collision then it is the content of the law and review of its constitutionality.

Journalistís question :

Are you afraid of the forthcoming elections, since you have no support of the SDP?

Presidentís answer:

I have no reason to be afraid of anything. I have the pleasure that my term of office which elapsed is assessed by the citizens and that it will be seen whether my perception of future performance of this office would be equally assessed as good by citizens. I am not afraid and I am pleased that I got the unanimous support of the party which proposed me for the office the last time. That is the maximum satisfaction to me. It means, that on the basis of the strategic values promoted by the DPS, and in the interest of all the citizens, I have been exercising my duty, and it was recognized as autonomous and that the values and perspectives were valorized as being beneficial for all the citizens. Finally, that is the outcome of public surveys.

Journalistís question:

Mr. Vujanović, on this occasion, it was discussed on human capital. This is an interesting situation, to say at least, that you and Mr. Đukanović have taken the positions of Prime Minister and President for the last 20 years. In your opinion, is that perhaps an indicator of lacking human capital in these positions, a lack of replacement or is it perhaps a fact that, like most of the citizens, you prefer working in the public sector to working in the private sector?

Presidentís answer

You know that I came from the private sector. That I have been within the public sector, not after performing some other duties in the public sector, but after serving in the private sector in which I worked with satisfaction and gratitude to those who chose me as their defender or representative. Twelve years, which were an important part of my career of which I am very proud. I am recommended by my experience to say that Montenegro should turn to small and medium business. To pursue entrepreneurship with much more ambitions, assuredness, courage, initiative and to show that it finds a challenge in it, a creativeness and wants to create benefits for individuals and their families. I am very rejoiced that together with the UNDP and other specialized United Nations organizations, along with high esteem demonstrated by Ambassador Verbensky and his readiness, we shall promote such approach. It is not good, as we have seen, that the public sector gets the advantage, which is obviously a matter of perception which ought to be changed and I think that all of us have to work on that. Not only the state. To change that perception, to ensure that we are pursuing the creative jobs. We have seen from this report that the entrepreneurship has an increasing share in the GDP and that it ensures all the components of development which are necessary.
I do not expect to zero in with noting to offer. So, it would be completely nonsensical. I expect that people understand that they should opt for the mission which I had, which I performed in various state duties. People will evaluate as voters what they should opt for and I consider that my election as a president is an important part of the electoral cycle, in which we take into the account the citizensí opinion. So, I think that we should all offer our programs, to present what we have done. Finally, Mr.Lekić has been present in the state for a long time, I think that he has much more experience and years of work than I do. So, both his life experience and his experience in public domain and diplomacy make him certainly a man of experience. I do not think that performing public affairs is something that does not recommend you. On the contrary, if you worked hard, that is something which recommends you.
