Podgorica, President of Montenegro received the PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs
The President of Montenegro received today the PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs, Ms. Nursuna Memecan and Mr. Kimmo Sassi, representatives of the Republic of Turkey and Finland in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, respectively.

The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović expressed today during the meeting his gratefulness to the Council of Europe and Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for their support to Montenegro in its reforms, which are of great significance for democratic progress of the society and prosperity of its citizens. He emphasized dedication of Montenegro to the Constitutional changes in the judicial system reform, which are aimed at further promotion of independence of the judiciary system, rule of law and European aspiration of our state. The President mentioned the interior and foreign-policy priorities of Montenegro, pointing out preservation and improvement of the friendly cooperation with all the neighboring states.

The PACE Monitoring Committee co-rapporteurs expressed their satisfaction over the progress of Montenegro in all the fields, and expressed special interest in the process of the Constitutional amendment for the purpose of provision of full independence of judiciary, improvement of living standard of Roma population in Montenegro and promotion of the relations between Montenegro and its neighboring countries. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff
President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, received today the military delegation of Hellenic Republic, headed by the Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Mikhail Kostarakos, which was in a visit to Montenegro.

President Vujanović expressed high appreciation of close relations between Montenegro and the Hellenic Republic, expressing satisfaction with overall cooperation between the two armies, in accordance with agreed annual plans and education segment and joint participation in peacekeeping missions. He appraised the cooperation between two armies as an important contribution to overall bilateral cooperation, highlighting expectation of its further strengthening.

With the consent on a high level of cooperation of two armies, General Kostarakos expressed respect for the progress of Montenegro in Euro-Atlantic integration, stressing further support of Greece in that process, and pointing out the advantages of NATO membership in terms of safety, but in economic and political spheres also. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović received the Ambassador of Hungary in a farewell visit
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today the Ambassador of Hungary, Tibor Császár, in a farewell visit.

In the course of the talks the President Vujanović expressed his special satisfaction over the comprehensive and intensive relations of Montenegro and Hungary, pointing out the traditional Montenegrin-Hungarian friendship, and he also expressed his gratefulness for the support of Hungary to the European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Montenegro. Emphasizing his respect for the close cooperation both on bilateral and multilateral level, the President assessed that further promotion of economic cooperation was a necessity for the mutual benefit.

The Ambassador Császár characterized the relations of Montenegro and Hungary as excellent and expressed satisfaction over the opportunity and achievements of promotion of the same while he discharged his high duty in Montenegro, emphasizing that support of Hungary to our integration aspirations would be continued. more

Podgorica, President received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, Titus Corlatean.

The President reiterated his condolences over the recent traffic accident on behalf of the citizens of Montenegro and in his own name and wished a rapid recovery to the injured ones.

The President thanked for the support of Romania to the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro convinced that it would be continued. He pointed out the significance of opening the 23rd and 24th chapter for our European integration as well as for the overall integration process in the region, believing that Romania would provide its strong support to opening of these two chapters, so that the conditions for continuation of accession negotiations are created in that way.

The President expressed his expectation that in the forthcoming NATO Summit for enlargement, Romania would support invitation to Montenegro for membership, in which case our achievements would be recognized in this important integration.

He emphasized his satisfaction over the comprehensive bilateral relations in all the fields and stated his expectation that the same would be continued and promoted especially in the field of economy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Titus Corlatean reiterated his gratefulness to the citizens of Montenegro and all the competent authorities and services for the assistance offered on the occasion of the recent traffic accident.

The Minister Corlatean pointed out that Montenegro was a role model in the region and it should receive the support for its Euroepan and Euro-Atlantic integration, emphasizing readiness of Romania to strongly support the process. In addition, he shared his assessment that promotion the overall relations may be promoted, convinced that there is wide room for cooperation in the field of economy, which should be used to the maximum extent. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović received the Minister of Defense of Slovenia
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia Roman Jakič.

The President pointed out his satisfaction over the overall cooperation of Montenegro and Slovenia, and cooperation between the two Ministries of Defense in the framework of that cooperation. He expressed his expectation that cooperation and support of Slovenia to the Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro would be continued.

The President especially indicated to the values of NATO integrations in terms of economic and political benefits offered by NATO integrations. He emphasized the example of valuable support of NATO member states to Montenegro in getting over the natural disaster consequences.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Slovenia Roman Jakič agreed with the President that bilateral cooperation was successful, emphasizing that Montenegro reached great achievement as to the NATO standards. He stated his expectation that Montenegro would be invited to join NATO in the next Summit, stating his conviction that Montenegro was fully dedicated to further achievement of standards of this Euro-Atlantic integration. In that sense, he expressed readiness of Slovenia to provide further support, which it offered also as contact state of Montenegro in its NATO integration. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović received today the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Mr. Suma Chakrabarti and his associates.

Vujanović expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between the EBRD and Montenegro so far. He pointed out that the support of the EBRD is a major contribution to the overall development of Montenegro and that the support was evident in almost all sectors, securing economic development and a better life for our citizens. He expressed confidence that cooperation will continue, especially in projects that will contribute to more balanced regional development of Montenegro, highlighting the project aimed at supporting the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the north of Montenegro and implementation of the Kotor – Cetinje cable car project.

EBRD President, Chakrabarti expressed satisfaction with the cooperation so far and pointed out that the EBRD has a long and very meaningful cooperation with Montenegro and that Montenegro serves as an example in the region. The EBRD is committed to long-term cooperation, particularly proud of the projects launched and implemented in the fields of tourism, infrastructure and energy, which is certainly a huge potential. He agreed with the President Vujanović concerning the importance of regional development and said that the EBRD will pay special attention to projects in the underdeveloped areas through the development of small and medium enterprises. In particular, support was expressed for the Kotor – Cetinje cable car project, which will contribute to the improvement of tourism in Cetinje, Kotor and the region, and confirmed the already expressed willingness to fund the project through private - public partnership.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the EBRD for Montenegro, Mr. Giulio Moreno and the Mayor of Cetinje and the President of the National Kotor-Cetinje Cable Car Project Team Mr. Aleksandar Bogdanović. more

Croatia: President of Montenegro at the Ceremony in Zagreb
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović attended the ceremony in Zagreb, which began around 23h at the Ban Jelačić Square on the occasion of CroatiaČs accession to the EU.

The ceremony gathered thousands of citizens and it was attended by around 170 foreign officials, 15 Heads of State and 13 Prime Ministers.

In the morning, President Josipović arranged a working breakfast for the Heads of State of South-East Europe who attended the ceremony.


The working breakfast was a joint initiative of Presidents of Croatia and Slovenia, Ivo Josipović and Borut Pahor, to make the two countries promoters of regional cooperation. The aim is to gather the leaders of the region and high officials of the EU each year.

President Vujanović reiterated that this was a historical event for Croatia and congratulated the citizens of Croatia on the first day of cohabitation with the European Union.

He pointed out that he wished that each new day in the European Union brought about achievement of its most beautiful dream of benefits that the European Union would provide for Croatia.

"This is undoubtedly a historic event for Croatia but an important event for the European Union, as the European Union indicated to its intention to continue the policy of enlargement and that it did not close its doors to the Western Balkans. In relation to Montenegro, we experience it as a good sign that two new chapters of negotiations will be open as we are now the only country that conducts the accession negotiation process with the EU", said the President.

He expressed his belief that integration of Montenegro would be strongly promoted by its friends such as Slovenia and Croatia. He thanked for the initiative of Presidents Josipović and Pahor that, in the framework of this informal form with the participation of highest representatives of the European Union states and representatives from Brussels, the Commission, the Council and the Parliament, we have informal meetings where we would discuss these topics mentioned by the President Josipović. The first topic - the enlargement process and its dynamics, the second – regional projects and third topic - open issues of the Western Balkans region.

He also expressed satisfaction over the new occasion to meet in this composition with the presence of high officials from the European Union and in particular the EU Member States, hoping that these meetings will be effective and will bring a profit to all countries from the South-East Europe region. more

President of Montenegro in Croatia
At the invitation of President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, will attend in Zagreb the celebration of the accession of Croatia to the European Union.

Upon his arrival in Zagreb, in a media statement, the President congratulated Croatia, its citizens, state bodies and all the entities of Croatian society that conducted a long, demanding, and very complex, nine-year accession process and achieved a truly historic value, the membership in the European Union. He stressed that this was of capital importance for Croatia, but it is also important for our region, particularly for the neighbours.

"Montenegro will certainly benefit from the neighbouring countries to a significant extent. It will be an opportunity to use Croatian experiences in the negotiation process. Practically, the same team that led the negotiation process from Brussels will now proceed with the process for Montenegro. This is certainly a chance to accelerate the negotiations with the European Union. It is an opportunity to, using those experiences, get the opportunity to open and close all the chapters more quickly, and it is above all important that we have a great promoter in the European Union for the integration needs of Montenegro. Therefore, the membership of Croatia in the European Union has a special significance for Montenegro and the region. This significance is really exceptional and I am very glad that Croatia received the EU membership," said the President. more

Cetinje, President Vujanović received Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received the Letters of Credence from the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, H.E. Tran Xuan Thuy, who will perform his duty in Montenegro on a non-residential basis.

President Vujanović wished a successful mission to Montenegro to the Ambassador of SR of Vietnam H.E. Tran Xuan Thuy. He stated that conclusion of inter-state contracts was necessary in order to facilitate and speed up the economic cooperation between the two states. He expressed also his expectation that activities of the state bodies and chambers of commerce would contribute to the exchange of information on potentials of that cooperation.

The Ambassador H.E. Tran Xuan Thuy stated his conviction that relations between the two states would be promoted in all the fields during his diplomatic mission. He agreed with the President in terms of conclusion of inter-state contracts and emphasized that opportunity for economic cooperation should be taken in particular. more

Cetinje, President Vujanović received Letters of Credence from the Ambassador of Japan
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received the Letters of Credence from the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan H. E. Masafumi Kuroki, who will perform his duty on a non-residential basis.

The President expressed his high respect for the friendly and comprehensive relations between Montenegro and Japan. He thanked for the help of Japan to Montenegro in relation to numerous and important projects. He assessed highly the successful privatization of Daido metal and stated that experience of this company may attract new investors and make stronger economic connections between Japan and Montenegro.

The President stated his expectation that the Ambassador Masafumi would dedicate himself to the economic diplomacy to the maximum extent in order to contribute to better economic connections of the two states.

The Ambassador Masafumi Kuroki, who visited thecompany Daido metal and got familiar with the successful business, agreed with the assessment of the President that it was a successful privatization. He stated his expectation that this successful business would encourage other Japanese companies to invest in Montenegro.

The Ambassador Masafumi pointed out that he experienced Montenegro as a role model and wished it success in the European and Euro-Atlantic integration. more

Podgorica, President of Montenegro – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania
The President of Montenegro, Mr. Filip Vujanović received today Mr. Titus Corlăţean, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania who came to Montenegro on the occasion of the tragic Romanian bus crash in the Moraca canyon.

During the talks, President Vujanović reiterated the deepest condolences in its own name and on behalf of the citizens of Montenegro. He stated that everyone in Montenegro regards the loss of the lives of Romanian citizens as the common tragedy as well as that everyone joins the bereaved families and all citizens of Romania in their sorrow. The President also stated that the citizens who were on the spot during the tragedy and all responsible services did their utmost in order that the consequences of this accident will not be more tragic, as well as that the Montenegrin health system is doing everything it can so that the injured Romanian citizens will have a speedy and successful recovery.

Minister Corlăţean stressed that the news of this terrible tragedy that affected all citizens of Romania, and especially the families of the deceased, was received with great sorrow in Romania. On behalf of the citizens of Romania, the Minister thanked for maximal involvement of all state bodies and citizens of Montenegro in providing assistance and care for the injured. He expressed special appreciation to the citizens of Montenegro who massively responded to the call for blood donation for the injured, convinced that within the scope of adequate medical treatment, a maximum assistance will be provided to the injured. more

The President of Montenegro Sends Telegram to President of Romania
The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović sent the telegram of condolences to the President of Romania Traian Băsescu over the traffic accident that took place in the Moraca canyon in which 18 tourists from Romania lost their lives.

“In my own name and on behalf of the citizens of Montenegro, I extend the deepest condolences over the tragic loss of 18 lives of citizens of friendly Romania in the traffic accident that took place in Montenegro. I assure you that the citizens of Montenegro share the great sorrow with the families and the citizens of Romania. The utmost medical treatment and care have been provided to the dozens injured in this tragic accident with a hope that all of them will have a speedy and successful recovery”, reads, inter alia, the telegram of the President. more

Cetinje: Official Visit of H.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco to Montenegro
H.H. Albert II of Monaco is paying an official visit to Montenegro from 19 to 21 June 2013.

The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today H.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco in a Presidential Residence in Cetinje.

Following the official reception, tęte-ŕ-tęte meeting and bilateral talks President Vujanović and Prince Albert II of Monaco gave media statements.

President Vujanović underlined his special pleasure for having Prince Albert II of Monaco as a guest in Montenegro.

The President particularly stressed the international reputation Prince Albert II enjoys due to the numerous activities that he successfully implements in various fields, such as environmental protection, humanitarian field, and promotion of culture and highly valuable mission of sports.

On behalf of the citizens of Montenegro, the President expressed appreciation for everything the Prince achieved and expressed his belief that he will continue with these valuable activities which bring common good to the international community.

He emphasized that this visit is a strong contribution to the new comprehensive intensive and already friendly relations between Montenegro and Monaco. more

Podgorica, President of Montenegro Receives Mustafa Toprak
President of Montenegro received today Mr. Mustafa Toprak, Governor of Izmir and Chairman of the Organisational Committee for Izmir’s candidacy to host EXPO in 2020. President Vujanović pointed to the very good cooperation of Turkey and Montenegro. Good relations at the state level are followed by good cooperation at the level of economy. Previous experiences of Turkish investors, such as Gintash, Tosçelik, and Turkish Airlines represent a good example for other investors and could be the initial bridge of cooperation. He also pointed out that our Diaspora can play an important role in future cooperation and that it has already shown interest in particular projects. Speaking of EXPO, President Vujanović confirmed the support of Montenegro to Izmir as the host candidate and pointed out that receiving candidacy would represent a great opportunity not only for Izmir, but for the whole Balkan region, as it would be the first EXPO in the Balkans in case of obtaining candidacy.

Mr Toprak thanked for the opportunity to present the activities performed so far in organizing EXPO in Izmir. He pointed out that this was a return visit, and highlighted the contribution of the President Vujanović to good relations between Montenegro and Turkey. Turkey has already provided the necessary space and financial resources for the organisation of EXPO. He noted that in case of obtaining candidacy, after the exhibition, the entire EXPO space would be turned into a tourist - health centre. He also informed the President that he also performed the duty of Chairman of the Board of Izmir Development Agency and that he would make special efforts in promotion and development of relations between Montenegro and Turkey. Duty free zone in Izmir functions successfully and therefore, he expressed particular interest in Port of Bar and duty free zone in Bar, announcing the arrival of Turkish businessmen to Bar.

The talks were attended by the Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro, Mr. Mehmet Niyazi Tanilir, as well as the Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, Mr. Ivan Saveljić. more
