Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives Head of OSCE Mission in Montenegro
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today H.E. Mr. Šarūnas Adomavičius, Head of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro, in a farewell visit.

The President expressed his gratitude to the Head of the Mission Adomavičius for a very intensive and committed activity in Montenegro, which ensured quality fulfillment of the mission. He expressed particular satisfaction for a strong contribution of the Mission in destruction of arms and military equipment, considerably solving this serious problem. Also Montenegro showed the readiness to avert, along with the help of the international community, the risk which our country really faced due to the surplus of armaments and military equipment.

The President reiterated the determination of Montenegro to perform, in the interest of further cooperation with OSCE, at the highest standard level.

President of Montenegro attended celebration of the Jubilee in Pljevlja
On the occasion of September 24, Miners’ Day of Montenegro and 60 years Anniversary of the Pljevlja Coal Mine JSC, the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović attended today celebration of the Jubilee in Pljevlja.

Respected employees and miners of the Pljevlja Coal Mine, miners of Montenegro, esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen.

I have come to express my respect and congratulate the Miners’ Day of Montenegro, to the employees and, first of all, miners of the Pljevlja Coal Mine for a great and significant Jubilee – six decades anniversary of the Pljevlja Coal Mine. I would like to express my respect, first of all, to these who spent their years of service in the Pljevlja Coal Mine through dedicated, self-sacrificing, enthusiastic work, securing thus to the Coal Mine reputation, which belongs to it. I would like to express my respect to the present employees of the Coal Mine, first of all, miners, administrative and executive management and all the others who contributed so that we can be proud today of the Coal Mine in Pljevlja, and not only in Pljevlja but in the entire Montenegro. Cetinje, President Vujanović received letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia
President of the Republic of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received the letters of credence of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia, Mrs. Ivana Perić.

During the talks the President Vujanović expressed his satisfaction over the intensive and comprehensive relations between Montenegro and Republic of Croatia, emphasizing that he expected further promotion of the friendly relations between the two states in all the fields, and especially in the field of economy. Pointing out his satisfaction over the recent accession of Croatia to the European Union, he assessed its experience in the process of accession to the European Union as particularly valuable for negotiations of Montenegro. The President expressed his respect to Croatia for the past support and emphasized the expectation that the cooperation in that respect would be continued. Pointing to the regional aspect of the negotiations on membership of Montenegro in the European Union, he emphasized the contribution of Montenegro to maintain the EU enlargement process towards the Western Balkan as well as responsibility assumed by Montenegro as a regional leader in the integration.

The Ambassador Perić expressed her satisfaction over the opportunity to perform this high duty in Montenegro as well as with the fact that Montenegro in the several past years made a great and obvious progress. The Ambassador emphasized importance of success of Montenegro in the Euro-Atlantic integrations in respect of further contribution to the stability of region, but also in respect of direct foreign investments and overall progress of economy. Emphasizing that her important mission in Montenegro would be dedicated to further promotion of good-neighborly cooperation, she pointed to the readiness of Croatia to further support Montenegro in its integration. more

Cetinje, Newly Appointed Ambassador of Ecuador Presents Letter of Credence to President of Montenegro
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, received today in Cetinje the Letters of Credence of the new Ambassador of Ecuador Mr. Carlos Danilo Vallejo Lopez.

The President expressed his confidence that, regardless of their geographical distance, there are favorable conditions for achieving cooperation at bilateral and multilateral level, especially in the sphere of economic relations, because of which the appointment of the Ambassador of Ecuador to Montenegro is of particular importance.

Ambassador Lopez pointed to the need for increasing the overall cooperation between the two countries and personal commitment to achieving that goal, emphasizing that he will organize the presentation of Ecuador’s economy in Montenegro by the end of year, so as the state institutions and businessmen would recognize the possibilities for future cooperation. more

Cetinje, President of Montenegro Receives Letter of Credence from Newly Appointed Ambassador of Cyprus
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today in the Residence in Cetinje the Letters of Credence from the new Ambassador of Cyprus Ms. Nafsika Chr. Krousti.

On this occasion too, President Vujanović expressed his satisfaction over the close state relationship between Montenegro and Cyprus, pointing out that the further promotion of traditional friendship between the two countries and their citizens means the boosting of the overall cooperation with an emphasis on the sphere of economy. Emphasizing the gratitude of Montenegro for the support of Cyprus in our integration processes, he underlined the expectation of making further Cyprus’ efforts toward the acceleration of and enriching the process of accession negotiations between Montenegro and the European Union, both generally and in the light of Cypriot Presidency over the Union.

Ambassador Krousti expressed her satisfaction over the valuable results of Montenegro, emphasizing the determination and commitment of Montenegro in its integration processes, as well as its huge progress in domestic and international scale. She also expressed the readiness of Cyprus to continue to provide support to Montenegro in the field of integration, as well as to contribute during her important mission, to further enriching the cooperation between the two countries. more

President of Montenegro in Nikšić
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović attended the ceremonial session of the Municipal Assembly of Nikšić which was held on the occasion of the Day of Nikšić.

The President congratulated the citizens of Nikšić, Councilors, President of the Municipal Assembly and President of the Municipality on the Day of Nikšić and expressed his appreciation for truly achieved results in a year that will be obviously remembered for huge investments and important successes of the municipality.

The President pointed out that this is a year in which the Podgorica-Nikšić railway will be put into operation, a year in which the wastewater treatment project will begin with implementation, a year in which huge investments have been made in local infrastructure and a year in which a chance of entrepreneurship has been promoted in Nikšić, that has processing capacities for one powerful and rich primary network. The Nikšić Steelworks got a new owner, although it was in bankruptcy and faced the risk of liquidation. It got an owner who invested remarkable resources, who plans to invest EUR 35 million for a period of five years, as well as to make a program that will employ 550 workers in total. The Steelworks has always been an important part of not only industry but overall economy of Nikšić and I am convinced that Toscelik will be a sign of recognition that will increase in splendor and value. He expressed his belief that the rich resources of Nikšić oblige, first and foremost, local administration, but also oblige the Government, donors and international entities that finance local infrastructure to continue with such an attitude towards Nikšić to the benefit of all citizens of Nikšić. more

Cetinje, President Vujanović Receives Delegation of the Council of Bar Association of Europe
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović, received today in the Residence in Cetinje, the delegation of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe headed by President Marcella Prunbauer Glaser and Secretary-General, Jonathan Goldsmith, within their visit to the Bar Association of Montenegro.

The Bar Association of Montenegro is an associate member of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe whose membership was granted to it by Montenegro’s obtaining the candidate status for a member of the European Union.

The visit of the delegation of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe is for the purpose of accelerating the procedure for full membership of the Bar Association of Montenegro in this European Bar Association.

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives Delegation of SUBNOR and Antifascists of Montenegro
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today the delegation of SUBNOR (Federation of Veterans Associations of the People’s Liberation War) and Antifascists of Montenegro composed by: President Andrija Nikolić and Vice-Presidents Ljubo Sekulić and Zuvdija Hodžić.

The representatives of the veterans’ organization acquainted President Vujanović with the program’s activities from the scope of their work as well as with the contents of preparations for the Fifth Congress of SUBNOR and Antifascists of Montenegro and Assembly of the European War Veterans Committee which will take place in Montenegro.

On this occasion, under the decision of the Presidency of this organization, as a mark of respect and gratitude for cherishing the tradition of NOB (People’s Liberation War), President Vujanović was awarded with the first memorial medal that symbolizes 70th anniversary of the 13th July Uprising and antifascism in Montenegro.

President Vujanović pointed out the historical significance of the 13th July and expressed his respect for a contribution which veterans’ organization makes to the promotion of achievements of NOB and preservation of the values of antifascism, in the mission of eternal good of humanity. more

Vujanović and Sannino: Montenegro can Continue to Count on EC Support in European Integration Process
At the International Peace Conference in Sarajevo, the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović had today a bilateral meeting with the Director of the European CommissionČs
Directorate for Enlargement Stefano Sannino.

Expressing his satisfaction over the meeting with Sannino, Vujanović said that it is continuation of the communication with the European officials, as well as positive attitude of the EC towards the EU enlargement process and position of Montenegro.

“It is obvious that there is a full readiness to actually carry out the negotiations and to open them as soon as possible, and, in technical terms, intensive efforts are being made to launch the negotiations, and there is a full willingness to enter, with joint effort, I expect right after the parliamentary elections, also the actual negotiation position with the EU”, the Montenegrin President said.

He expressed his belief that the negotiations will be opened during the Cypriot Presidency of the EU, pointing out to the earlier stated plan of Cyprus that the negotiation process with Montenegro begins during the Presidency of that country. more

Sarajevo, President Vujanović – Montenegro is Committed to Fostering of Dialogue, European Integration and Peace Promotion
President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, delivered an address at the main session at the World Conference for Peace, entitled “Living Together is the Future – Religions and Cultures in Dialogue”, held in Sarajevo.

Montenegro is committed to fostering dialogue, European integration, good neighbourly cooperation and peace promotion, as important prerequisites for progress and European future of the entire region, said President Vujanović.

He pointed out to the importance of individual treatment of every state on the path of European integration, stating that anything else would be unjust and discouraging.

“For Montenegro, equally as for the other countries of the Balkans, it is very important that the EU treats this area through the individual treatment. That individual treatment provides the accomplishments regarding standards to be adequately valued by the EU, on one hand, and it encourages the Western Balkan states, motivated by the success of one state, to step up their activities regarding the EU accession, on the other hand”, emphasized President Vujanović.

He stated that the EU gave Montenegro a fair chance, which Montenegro had deserved, which belonged to it and which is valuable in regional terms. more

Sarajevo, President of Montenegro with Chairman and Members of Presidency BiH
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović met today in Sarajevo, at a working lunch, with the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović and Members of the Presidency Nebojša Radmanović and Željko Komšić.

It is jointly stated that there is no open issues between Montenegro and BiH and that there is wide room for cooperation which should be used especially in the sphere of economy. Certainly, the joint projects are the chance for partnership and it is necessary to encourage such cooperation in the interest of economic growth and better communication of citizens.

At the same time it is a contribution to a more quality regional cooperation and success in European integration. more

Sarajevo, President Vujanović with the President of the European Council
In the course of his participation in the World Conference for Peace in Sarajevo the President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović held a meeting with the President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy.

During an open and constructive meeting the President of Montenegro stated and emphasized commitment of Montenegro to the European integration, pointing out that parliamentary elections are to be held next month in order to allow to the Government to conduct intensive negotiations for membership in the European Union during the four-year period.

He also expressed his expectation that, apart from negotiations in relation to chapters 23 and 24, which Montenegro is ready to start with immediately and comprehensively, the EU would allow starting negotiations also for the chapter 25, which is related to science and researches and is supposed to be open during Cyprus presiding over the European Union. This EU member state expressed readiness to encourage intensive negotiations in the course of its presiding.

The President of Montenegro reiterated that he expected individual treatment of each state so that integration achievements of each state are evaluated individually on their path towards the EU accession.

The President of the European Council pointed that candidate status received within a short period and opening of negotiations for membership was a proof that the EU was open for accession of Montenegro and ready to evaluate individual achievements of each state in achieving the standards.

He pointed out the same each time he met with any of Montenegrin officials, encouraging the intensity of accession negotiations, and on this occasion he emphasized his belief that following Croatia, Montenegro would be the first new EU member state. more

Sarajevo, President Vujanović – Montenegro shares fundamental values of inter-religious dialogue
Montenegro is committed to recognition and promotion of peace and inter-religious dialogue as a precondition for prosperity and progress of the region, said the President Vujanović in his address on the occasion of opening the World Meeting for Peace in Sarajevo.

The Meeting is held under the motto “Living Together is the Future – Religions and Cultures in Dialogue.”

“Montenegro managed, despite the great temptations, to preserve peace in the dramatic period of history which is behind us, and for the past six years since renewal of its independence, it has established itself as the factor of stability and role model of the region” pointed out the President.

The President said that Montenegro would continue to make efforts in the field of regional and international cooperation as well as cooperation among its numerous religious and ethnical communities.

“I am also assured that the prospects for Montenegro and the entire region lay in the European Union integration, and in that respect, the states and peoples from this region have no dilemma, all the more so because they belong to Europe, not only in geographical terms but also in terms of history and culture. That is significant not only for them but also for the European Union which will not be complete without them” emphasized the President. more
