President Vujanović at the Crans Montana Forum in Azerbaijan
Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović said today in Baku at the plenary session on the occasion of opening the Crans Montana Forum, that Montenegro was dedicated to achievement of sustainable development. Strategic determination of our Government is to direct its economy and society development in the most efficient way and to provide for better living quality for every citizen.

“Today, in Montenegro, we keep up the courageous and responsible work of building a society of development and open possibilities, thereby providing for a better life for everyone. We are committed to turning the vision of a sustainable and ecological state into reality and we are making additional efforts so as to make it real and not to allow that it becomes a utopia”, said the President Vujanović.

He pointed out his belief that Montenegro recommended itself to the international community, by its democratic and developmental accomplishments and constructive role in the region, as a serious and responsible partner in solving of these urgent global matters.

The President Vujanović stated that the main issues of the present time were - which was the role and task of the state in creation of the optimum conditions for development in the context of the global socio-economic problems i.e. how to efficiently fight poverty.

“I am certain that the major part of answers to these complex and interdependent questions lays in the concept of sustainable development of society, which every state is obliged to ensure”, emphasized the President of Montenegro. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives Delegation of NGO Igman Initiative
The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović received today in Podgorica, the delegation of the NGO Igman Initiative, regional organization that promotes the process of reconciliation and cooperation between the countries and citizens of the former Yugoslavia. The subject of the talks was the organization of the Initiative’s annual Summit, which is to be hosted by Montenegro in the last quarter of this year.

During the talks, President Vujanović confirmed the readiness of Montenegro to host the Summit, expressing the pleasure over the results of multi-annual work of the Initiative in which the heads of states of the region have regularly taken part, as well as prominent analysts and experts. He also described the engagement of the non-governmental sector in the process of the cooperation in the region and its integration into the European Union, as particularly important, emphasizing that Montenegro is fully committed to good-neighborly relations and to the cooperation with all countries in the region, as well as that it will continue to support all neighbors in their integration processes into the European Union.

The representatives of the Initiative, Messrs. Branko Lukovac, Aleksandar Popov and Vehid Šehić, congratulating Montenegro on obtaining the date for negotiations as a great success in its integration process, presented the White Paper that will be issued on the occasion of the annual conference to be hosted by Montenegro, and which is committed to the citizens’ status and property issues resulted as a consequence of disintegration of Yugoslavia in the countries of Dayton agreement with recommendation for their solutions. During the talks, they also presented the views of the Initiative with regard to the possibility and model of deepening cooperation in the region.

The Commissioner for Enlargement of the European Union, Mr. Štefan Füle, at the previous Summit in Belgrade announced its presence at the Summit of the Igman Initiative which will be held in Montenegro. more

Vujanovic - Recognition to All Stakeholders of Society
Podgorica – The decision of the Council of the European Union for General Affairs on opening the negotiations of Montenegro with the European Union is high recognition for the state and all stakeholders of the society that have helped the Montenegrin integration successes, President Filip Vujanović assessed.

He believes that the decision is very important for the region and it represents an encouragement to other countries to intensify activities in the process of acceleration of the EU accession.

Also, it has its significance for the European Union because it indicates that the accession negotiations are being continued in the Western Balkan area, and that, after the accession of Croatia, the negotiation process for the Western Balkan is not interrupted.” Vujanović said for MINA Agency.

The Montenegrin President said that the decision in this regard is described to be of paramount value and is convinced that the all stakeholders of the society will continue their activities in order to accelerate the accession negotiations as much as possible.

“Of course, it implies that the chapters 23 and 24 are evaluated with a special attention and I am convinced that all those who are obliged to prove that Montenegro is determined to build the rule of law country, will make a full contribution to such a building”, Vujanović said.

He thanked the Commission that proposed setting the date, the European Parliament that supported it and “the ministers who expressed the need to set the date which the European Council will now already officially confirm”.

“To that end, I wish once again to reiterate my respect to all stakeholders of the Montenegrin society that have been diligently committed to obtaining the date of the negotiations which by its setting and determining, truly represents a great success of the entire Montenegro”, Vujanović concluded. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives Leopold Maurer in Farewell Visit
The President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović received today, in Podgorica, the Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro and Head of the Delegation of the European Union in Podgorica, Mr. Leopold Maurer, in a farewell visit.

Ambassador Maurer stated that significant reforms have been made in all fields during his term of office in Montenegro, and he expressed his great appreciation for them. He reiterated the view of the European Union on the need for keeping the individual approach to European integration and assessed that obtaining the date for negotiations would be significant for Montenegro and the region. The Ambassador also stated his expectation that Montenegro will continue to be a good role model in the region preserving harmonious relations and good environment for investments on which the entire economy and living standard of the citizens depend.

During the talks, president Vujanović stated his particular gratitude for a full commitment of Ambassador Maurer in the discharge of his important diplomatic mission in Montenegro. He agreed that during his term of office, Montenegro achieved significant integration successes and stated that the European integration is Montenegro’s priority. more

Podgorica, President Vujanović Receives the Representatives of the DHL Company
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović received today in Podgorica the representatives of the DHL company for Serbia and Montenegro, headed by the Director General Darko Babić, MSc. Executive Director of the DHL for Montenegro Siniša Milutinović and the DHL consultant Miloje Popović were also the members of the delegation. The DHL representatives acquainted President Vujanović with the work of the DPDHL (Deutsche Post DHL) group, the greatest world corporation for transportation and logistics at the global level, employing 470 thousand people in over 220 countries and territories. The company, which is a part of the German postal service, generated the revenue of EUR 53 billion in 2011. more

Belgrade, President Vujanović – President Nikolić
The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović met today with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić, in the margins of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP), which took place in Belgrade.

The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović reiterated persistency of Montenegro to further promote neighborhood relations with respect of sovereignty, equality and partnership with Serbia in the interest of the citizens of two states and quality economic cooperation. Respecting commitment of Serbia aimed at European integration the President of Montenegro expressed his expectation that the negotiations between Serbia and European Union would begin by the end of this year.

The President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić reiterated that, recognizing the sovereignty of Montenegro, relations of the two states should be additionally promoted, and he was ready to make his maximum contribution to that end. The President Nikolić expressed his expectation that Montenegro would receive the date to begin negotiations with the European Union by the end of this month, which was sincerely supported by Serbia.

The President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović met today with the President of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevnelijev, in the margins of the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the South-East Europe Cooperation Process (SEECP), which took place in Belgrade.

The President of Montenegro expressed high respect for the support of Bulgaria to the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Montenegro, believing that Bulgaria would continue to have such relation in terms of these strategic interests of Montenegro. With expressed satisfaction over the comprehensive and intensive relations the President Vujanović expressed his expectation that the economic relations between the two states should be further promoted.

The President of Bulgaria Rosen Plevnelijev stated that Bulgaria was resolute to continue to promote European and Euro-Atlantic ambitions of Montenegro assessing that these were at the same time valuable at the regional level. He agreed that good inter-state relations should be promoted as a good basis for promotion of economic cooperation.

Media Statements of the President of Montenegro and Prime Minister of the Republic of Malta
Malta will continue to support Montenegro in European integration, and good state relations between the two countries should be used for promotion of economic cooperation, stated the Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović and Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi to the press, today in Valetta.

Vujanović said to the journalists that Montenegro is grateful to Malta for the support in the European integration process.

“Support of Malta is significant for Montenegro on its European path, as well as its assistance, in order to strengthen the administrative capacities in the field of diplomacy and to have an easier access to the European funds”, said the Montenegrin President.

Prime Minister of Malta said that that state will continue providing constant support to Montenegro on its path towards full membership in the EU.

“Malta is supporting Montenegro in the European integration, because we believe that the Western Balkans region is an important area for the EU. WE are certain that membership of Montenegro in the EU will be a strong signal that EU is open for all states of that region”, said Gonzi. more

Malta, President Vujanović – Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi
President of Montenegro Filip Vujanović met today, on the second day of the official visit to Malta, with the Prime Minster of that state, Lawrence Gonzi.

President of Montenegro expressed satisfaction over comprehensive and active relations at the state level, stating that there is a solid contractual basis of the two countries, for cooperation in all areas.

President Vujanović expressed belief that the Government of Malta would encourage its companies to invest in Montenegro and establish partnerships with our enterprises and businessmen. Conveying positive impressions from the business forum held under his auspices and under the auspices of the President of Malta, George Abela, he expressed an expectation that stronger economic ties would be developed between the two countries.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi agreed that the two states have comprehensive and active relations and expressed the commitment of Malta to continue supporting the European integration of Montenegro, as well as the readiness to encourage investments and economic partnerships with Montenegro. more

Presidents Vujanović and Abela Open the Montenegro-Malta Business Forum
Presidents of Montenegro and Malta, Filip Vujanović and George Abela delivered addresses today in Valetta at the opening of the business forum of the entrepreneurs from the two states.

We convey the address of President Vujanović:

Tourism, maritime affairs, energy sector, are the fields in which Montenegro and Malta could successfully cooperate, stated President Vujanović today in Valetta at the gathering of the two states’ businessmen.

At the business forum which gathered a number of entrepreneurs from Montenegro and Malta, Vujanović pointed out that excellent state and bilateral relations of the two countries should be used for enhancement of economic cooperation.

“There are a lot of similarities between our states and it is necessary that we transfer the great state relations to an equal economic cooperation”, said the Montenegrin President.

He reminded that the two states already have the two most important agreements for stimulation of economic cooperation – agreements on avoidance of double taxation and on stimulation and protection of investments. more
